This is an extremely fine example, which retains 100% factory nickel and 98% factory case colors on the hammer, trigger and trigger guard. The gutta percha grips are as new!! The bore is excellent, showing bright shiny lands and grooves. The finish is factory refinish and is noted by the star behind the serial number on the butt. This serial number, 29951 is in a lot of 50 numbers between the two Japanese contracts. No. 29950 went to Japan and No. 30001 went to Japan. This information is available in the Standard Catalog of S&W. The 5” barrel is rare! I have ordered a factory letter, which may well shed further history on this 50-gun order.
