An antique late gothic medieval Petard cannon. Petards where first used in the mid 15th century by the French. Made from cast iron. These petards where made to blast holes in the defences of a besieged town/fortress. They where mostly placed against doors with the intend to force it open. This petard dates from around 1480/1500's. Not many petards survive, most of them blew up when used
