MODEL 53 SOLID FRAME RIFLE IN .25-20 CALIBER, #5XXX, MADE 1926. A nice example with a minty bright bore and tight action. Fine barrel blue with very minor wear, flat top buckhorn rear sight with blade/bead front sight, receiver is mostly silvered with good blue on the loading gate, lever and thinning blue on the bolt, exc. markings, exc. stock with correct and original serrated steel shotgun butt plate, exc. forearm, nice screws, good wood to metal fit, tight action. This was the replacement rifle for the famed Model 1892 that was being phased out. Only a bit over 15,000 of these were made from 1924 until production was halted for World War II. Few of this model were sold through the Great Depression of the 1930s.
