Description:
I don't know any history on this rifle- when it was changed over to the 13 pound target rifle it is now or by who. This is how I got it and there was a vague story about some elder in the Muzzle-loading Rifle Association having built it back in the 1950s. I have no more info than that and I'm not sure if that story has any validity.  Excellent bore and a good shooter. I shot this rifle a fair amount when I first got it but I like to shoot off-hand- Schuetzen style, and this rifle is just too heavy for this seasoned citizen to hold offhand. The barrel is 34" long and 1&1/8" across. The tang sight doesn't have a name on it but is quality with screw adjustable windage and elevation settings. The wood is in nice shape with a hunter's star inletted on the right side of the butt-stock. I included a picture of how the tang sight was attached; I've never taken it off so when you look at the picture you know as much about it as I do. Recoil from my black powder ,45-70 loads was pretty mild because of the weight. A great gun for long range shooting off cross-sticks or offhand by some big young shooter. Lay away available. No ffl or C&R required as it is pre-1898
