Description:
Vintage English Double Hammergun: George Gibbs

Had a decent amount of interest in this gun when previously listed for sale in the $1600-$1700 range, but when original listing ended without a firm pending offer I decided not to renew ad but instead keep the gun for awhile longer to enjoy a bit more myself. Am now putting it back up for sale to help finance another purchase I am making, at reduced price of only $1275 shipped thru January 20th only. This George Gibbs SxS Double Hammergun is in solid condition with the following features:

  • Action: Back action, peninsula locks with toplever, double triggers and rebounding hammers. Light scroll engraving on receiver, fences, tang and trigger guard.
  • Gauge/Chambers: 12 gauge with 2 ½ in. chambers.
  • Barrels: 30 " Steel. Nitro proofed for 1 1/8 oz. loads. Barrel wall thickness at 35 thou each. Bores are quite good with only some very minor pitting/marks. Both barrels ring like a bell. Rib is engraved GEORGE GIBBS LTD., 37 BALDWIN STREET, BRISTOL
  • Chokes: IC (1/8) & IM (3/4)
  • Stock: Nicely figured with vacant silver oval in toeline. 14 5/8 in. LOP to horn butt plate. Approx. 1 1/2 in. DAC and 1 3/4 in. DAH.
  • Weight: 6 lb. 12 oz.
  • Antique (No FFL Required)

This vintage hammergun from one of England's best known provincial gunmakers – with its good dimensions, nitro proofing for 1 1/8 oz loads, and useful chokes – will be equally at home on either the sporting clays course or in the field after feathered game.
