Description:
For sale, a beautiful all-original World War 2 German Model LP34 Flare Pistol with the original holster and correct shoulder strap.  Known as the leuchtpistole, the flare pistol was a very important item in the Nazi Germany Heer (Army) officer's kit.  Used by all branches of the German military during World War 2, these flare pistols are quite collectible today with many variations and makers to collect.  This particular example is coded "AC43" which means it was made by the Walther firm in 1943.  1943 was the last year of the LP34 model production and this particular example is a high serial number making it one of the last production runs.  It is constructed of "Durlumin" which was an alloy that the German's produced.  Both the barrel assembly and the frame were factory anodized black.  The internal moving parts and the trigger and hammer are constructed of steel, and retain the factory blue finish.  This Walther flare pistol is in great shape overall and is mechanically perfect.  While the original anodizing has faded and been worn in places, the pistol still has a great overall look to it with a consistent patina.  All of the Waffenamts, maker's marks, and proofs stamped in this LP34 are present and legible.  The bore is in excellent shape, with no pitting, bulges, or dents.  The original bakelite grips are in excellent shape as well.  They are free from any cracks, chips, or repairs.  As mentioned before, all of the controls and mechanics of this LP34 are in perfect working order.  The action locks up tight and opens with authority, and the hammer, loaded chamber indicator, and trigger all work 100% like the day it left the Walther factory.  The holster that comes with this flare pistol is very nice and unique in that it has an original shoulder strap, and it has been serial numbered in white gothic style numbers in paint to the gun on the inside of the flap.  Below the painted serial number on the inside of the flap there is also the serial number again as well as the signature of the German soldier whom carried written in ink.  We cant quite make out the name but with proper magnification it might be legible.  This holster is maker marked between the belt loops with the stamped German wartime code "epf" and the date "42".  The maker code "epf" stands for "Interest Group for Mining u. Huettenbetrieb AG, operating group Bismarckhuette, Falvahuette hut factory in Schwientochlowitz, district of Katowice, later 'Koenigs- u. Bismarck Hut A G".  This holster is in excellent overall condition inside and out.  The holster leather is still pliable and soft and the stitching is all-original and intact.  All of the hardware is still intact except for one missing rivet on the metal plate on the top flap.  This can be seen in the pictures provided.  The strap leather is not quite as good as the holster, it is a little stiff and has some cracking and small tears in places.  We applied some Blackrock leather conditioner to it and it is better now, but the new owner should continue to apply conditioner to it over the next few month periodically.  While the strap is certainly an original WW2 piece that was made for this model holster, it is most likely not original to this particular piece.  If you have been looking for a really nice original WW2 Nazi flare pistol rig, this one would be an excellent choice.  Priced to sell!
