If you have been looking for one of these fine Colt revovlers that is nice enough to be proud of but not too nice to shoot, this is it. This 1977 vintage Colt Diamondback .22 revolver has been well-cared for, but shows signs of having been carried in a belt holster and shot. The Diamondback .22 revolver was the finest .22 caliber revolver that Colt ever produced. They quickly earned a reputation for being very well made, reliable, and accurate. This 4" inch barrel model has the original factory high gloss blue finish, a red ramp front sight with an adjustable rear target sight with a white outline, and hand-cut checkered Walnut factory grips with a gold finished Rampant Colt medallion in each side. This DA/SA revolver was all hand-fit and finished by one individual gunsmith at the factory resulting in a smooth and precise action and lock-up. This example shows 96%+ of the original finish with some high edge wear and handling marks. All of this finish wear is typical of a gun that was carried a handful of times in a un-lined leather holster with the exception of one small spot on the front of the triggerguard, where it looks like a drop of liquid of some kind removed the blue finish without damaging the metal. The original checkered Walnut grips are in very good condition overall. The checkering is still clean and crisp and the wood is free from any major cracks or repairs. The worst of the handling marks on the grips is the bottom edge of the right grip panel where there is a scrape right on the lower back edge. The grips are perfectly fit to the gun and the Colt medallions are both in great shape and tight to the wood. The action on this Colt is perfectly "in time" and at full-lock there is zero play in the cylinder. Cycling the action in single or double action is a pleasure on this Colt due to smoothness and precision of this design. The bore in the 4" barrel and cylinder bores are in excellent condition. There is no pitting, erosion, or imperfections of any kind visible in either part. The rifling is still strong with sharp lands and grooves showing. All of the functions and controls on this Diamondback work 100% like the day it left the factory. This 1977 Colt Diamondback would be an excellent addition to any collection as an investment quality shooter.
