Manufactured in September of 1943, this G.I. bring-back Type 14 Nambu has all matching numbers including the magazine and grips. This Type 14 was manufactured by the Toriimatsu factory of Nagoya Arsenal and is a first series pistol. It is 100% all-original and has not been altered or improved in any way. The original finish is quite good on the left side of the pistol, but the right side and rear grip strap shows some finish loss from cleaning off what appears to be blood pitting. It is quite likely that this pistol was laying with it's previous Japanese owner on the battlefield for some time before it was picked up by the soldier that brought it back to the States. Mechanically this Type 14 is in superb condition. We did a complete strip-down to verify all of the numbered parts match and that everything was in order, and the internals are in excellent condition with very little visible wear. The bore is overall in good condition on this Type 14. The rifling is strong and still shows sharp lands and grooves, and there is only some very minor pin-prick pitting in some spots along the bore. If the new owner so chooses this Nambu shoot shoot great and still be as accurate as it was the day it left the factory. This Pacific Theatre trophy is a great choice for someone wanting an all-matching Nambu including the magazine that doesn't mind a little finish imperfections. It certainly shows that this Nambu was likely in front line combat, and this Nambu could be shot with reasonable care without harming the collectibility and value of this piece.
