The Winchester Model 69 and 69A were manufactured from 1935 to 1963 and were a very successful model for the Winchester firm with over 355,000 made. They quickly earned a reputation for being both well made and good looking, as well as being very accurate in the right hands. They featured a 5-shot or 10-shot detachable box magazine and a 25" inch barrel. Some of the later production guns were shipped from the factory with a chrome plated trigger guard and bolt handle. The 69A was available with a grooved receiver and also in a "Target Model", which featured a #97B rear aperature sight and a #80A hooded front sight. This example appears to be 100% original and in excellent condition. It is a scarce Target Model 69A and has both the chrome plated trigger guard and bolt handle and the upgraded target sights as well as the grooved receiver. The original factory blue finish is in excellent condition and rates 96 to 97% with only some very small spots where previous surface rust has marred the finish. These are mainly on the magazine surround on the bottom of the rifle. The bore is mirror bright with sharp rifling and no signs of pitting or imperfections. The original stock is beautiful. Like the metal parts, it is in excellent condition and appears to be free from any cracks or repairs. The only noteworthy deduction I could find is a small chip of wood missing off of the toe, you can see this in some of the pictures provided. The factory Winchester buttplate is in great shape and is free from repairs, cracks, or chipping, and it is tight to the stock. Everything on this Model 69A Target Model works 100% like the day it left the factory, from the sights to the safety to the magazine release. We are confident that this Winchester will shoot just as well today as the day it was sold new in the 1950's or 60's. If you are a .22 rifle collector or Winchester collector it would be hard to find a cleaner example than this one. It is not often we get a Model 69A Target in any condition, much less one like this that is collector grade.
