“K.J. FLEMING ST. LOUIS” Half-Stock Long Rifle
Very Nice Vintage Percussion .40 Caliber Rifle
Here we present a Vintage Half-Stock Long Rifle in .40 Caliber, made circa the mid-19th Century in St. Louis, Missouri. The Long Rifle is one of the quintessential American firearms that brings to mind images of wilderness and pioneers. They were used to put food on the table and defend the homestead. This one was made in the mid-19th Century and has been marked by the maker “K.J. FLEMING ST. LOUIS” on the top barrel flat and “K.J. FLEMING” on the lock plate. It features a 35 inch heavy octagonal barrel in .40 caliber and double set triggers. This rifle remains in very nice shape and would be a fantastic option for traditional hunting with a vintage firearm.
The overall condition is very good. The original finish is about 60%. The markings are clear and legible. The walnut stock is smooth and solid with minor wear. The bore is clean with sharp rifling. The action is excellent, strong and crisp. Here is a wonderful example of a well-made, mid-19th Century Long Rifle!
