Hammerless Sidelocks - According to Boss records, this fine shotgun was ordered by William Fitzgerald Esq. of Dublin Ireland on November 1st 1899. This late Victorian period and the soon to start Edwardian period saw the rise of popular driven bird shooting and resulted in what many of us consider the golden age of English gun making. This Boss is an excellent example and will make its next owner very happy. I shoot Boss guns and there is just something about them! I believe it has to do with their extra attention to balance. We have this fine shotgun by Boss standards very attractively priced and will make the right man or woman their dream gun. To be up front, the original barrels by bore diameter are out of proof. They are in all other ways in excellent condition. It is most likely these barrels would pass a new proof if one wanted to go to the trouble. The bonus however with this gun is that it comes with an extra set of chopper lump barrels by another (I do not know who or where they were made but they are quality) and while not ever proofed they have excellent wall thickness and condition inside and out.
