Description:
This is a nice vintage American-made, all-original, and lightly used Springfield Arsenal M6 Survival Weapon that is a direct copy of the U.S. Military's M6 Aircrew Survival Weapon used from 1952 to the early 1970's.  The original U.S. Military version was chambered in .22 Hornet over .410 and had 14" barrels.  They were intended as a last ditch type weapon for air crewman who had been shot down or crashed to defend themselves and forage for food.  The Springfield Arsenal company decided to create a commercial version of the weapon for sale in 1982 and this was the result.  It has a parkerized finish and is chambered in .22 rimfire and .410 gauge.  The barrels are 18" long to conform to the 1968 Firearms act and it is a break-action design that folds in half.  The selector for firing the barrels is located on the hammer, and the rear sight is a 2-position unit with one position labeled for the rifle and one position labeled for the .410 shotgun barrel.  The stock has a compartment on the top of the comb that opens up for storage of 15 rounds of .22 ammo and 4 .410 shotshells.  From 1982 to 1994 these weapons were made in the U.S., from 1995 until they were discontinued in 2004 they were made by CZ in the Czech Republic.  The later production guns incorporated a large elongated triggerguard and were offered in stainless steel.  This particular example is a very early example actually made by Springfield in the U.S.A. and most closely resembles the original.  It is in good condition overall and has perfect bores in both barrels.  The parkerizing still has a great look to it and there are only a few spots showing handling/storage marks.  All of the controls and functions on this M6 work 100% like the day it left the factory.  This M6 would be a great addition to any U.S. military collection as a representative piece of the M6 Aircrew Survival Weapon as the originals are next to impossible to own.
