Richards” Double Barrel Hammer Shotgun, manufactured at the turn of the 20th Century in Belgium. This shotgun was shortened at both ends to make a very handy defensive firearm like what might have been used for guard duty. Barrels have a nice Damascened pattern in the barrels. Each lock is marked “W. RICHARDS”. “U.S.” is marked on the tail of the left lock and on the stock just behind.   The overall condition is fair. The metal surfaces are dark with age and the Damascened pattern is still very good. The markings are clear and legible. The stock is fair and the splinter forearm has been repaired at some point years ago. The bores are smooth and clear. The action on this shotgun is functional. Both mainsprings are strong, the right hammer locks up tight but the left hammer slips off whened or pushed. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 19-1/8 inches.
