Description:
Winchester Model 70 Pre-64 in .30 H&H Newton. Features the original 24" .30 GOV'T 06. (.30-06) barrel, which was rechambered to .30 H&H Newton. This cartridge is a belted magnum cartridge, and no doubt it's parent cartridge is the .300 H&H Magnum. See the 9th photograph which shows the barrel stamping of ".30 H&H Newton" and Xs over "GOV'T 06". For information on the .30 H&H Newton, which there is very little of, google search the cartridge, and the 1st or 2nd links that come up in your search will be for the 's Forum page where the .30 H&H Newton is discussed. Included with the rifle is a set of .30 H&H Newton reloading dies (maker unknown, possibly by Newton himself), see the 10th & 11th photograph for the die set. Also included is a J. Unertl 6x rifle scope with fine crosswires and a medium dot, mounted in Griffen & Howe quick detachable ring mount. There are a total of 11 photographs of the rifle and die set, and all can be seen on Cabela's Gun Library , which all can be zoomed up close for maximum inspection.
