Description:
This robe was made by H. WILLARD, SON & CO. of Marshalltown, Iowa and has their label attached. Their business included tanning hides and manufacturing fur robes, garments and rugs. This robe is backed with a dense black mohair fabric of the finest quality and bordered with pinked red wool felt fringe both fabrics are in perfect condition. The front is a rich brown horse hide that still has its LONG MANE  intact, with just two small holes at the base of the mane. Finding the mane still attached is unusual, but nice to have. These lap robes were an necessity in a time when most transportation was by horse draw wagons and slays during cold winter months. They make great display pieces and can still supply great warmth on winter slay rides today. Size 73" by 60"
