This would have been a crucial piece of gear for living on the Frontier or traveling remotely. It would have put food on the table and provided protection for the homestead. Inspired by the German Jaeger Rifle, the American Long Rifle served the same purpose and usually featured a much longer barrel and varying levels of ornament. This one features a 35 inch octagonal barrel in .38 caliber. It also features a patchbox and double set triggers. There are partially obscured initials on the lock and “WT” is marked on the top of the barrel. It appears that there is a faint inscription on the lock as well. This rifle has been through the ringer and would make a great piece for over the mantle. The metal surfaces are dark with age. Stock shows hard use. Breech plug and tang are absent. Lock will hold in the cocked position but is not fully functional. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 35-1/4 inches. Caliber: .38 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail!
