This RARE Colt 1911 Commercial Model was manufactured in 1919 and at some point in the early days of it's life, was completely customized. The most prominent of which is the engraving, which features extensive scroll work on the top of the slide and on the rear sections of the slide. Also depicted is a Deer on the left side of the slide and a man being chased by a grizzly bear on the right. In addition to the engraving, this Colt features the Stevens adjustable sights seen on the National Match Colt 1911 pistols of the same era. As well as a different mainspring housing that does not have a lanyard loop. The pistol comes with one original two-tone magazine. Finish on the gun is outstanding with the slightest thinning of the blue finish on the grip safety and some small scratches on the right side of the slide near the COLT logo. Wood grips are era correct but do not feature a serial number, slide and frame are serial number matching and all stampings and markings on this gun are very bright and deep. The bore on this pistol is excellent however it has been fired at some point but there is no pitting from surplus ammo, rifling is still strong and the bore is bright clean. Any additional information can be obtained from Colt as of the origin of this firearm, however since it was customized outside the factory, they will not possess any records showing when it was customized or who it was customized by. Overall though this is a beautiful show piece or shooter. Fit and finish are excellent and the blue is very deep and rich, combine that with the engraving and the National Match style sights and this is a one of a kind Pre-WW2 Colt 1911 Pistol.
