Description:
Here is a Heinrich Leue "Maker to the Court" of Berlin - 16 gauge Double Rifle with an extra set of 32" Shotgun barrels. Double rifle barrels are Fluid Steel 26" and fully rifled. The shotgun barrels are Nitro Proofed Damascus. Both sets of barrels are 2 3/4" and were proofed in 2005 at the London Proof House and so marked. The condition of both sets of barrels is quite extra extraordinary considering their age. The rifle barrels have strong lands and groves, are very bright and would rate 8 1/2 to 9 on a scale of 10. The mirror shotgun barrels measure .662 in the right and .660 in the left with Skeet chokes in both (4/1000). The gun might benefit from rust blueing the rifle barrels and browning the shotgun barrels. I will leave that decision up to the next owner. The gun is tight on face and locks up with a Jones Underlever and WC Scott type lever forend fastening system. Remarkably, the weight of the gun is 9 LBS 3 1/4 OZ with the rifle barrels and 9 LBS 3 OZ with the shotgun barrels. The wood has a lot of figure for an early German Gun. The LOP is 13 7/8" with drops at comb of 1 5/8" and heel at 2 3/4" making this a very shootable gun. As an antique this gun can be shipped directly as local law allows (No NJ or NYC).
