Bird season is over, and we are already thinking about how to make the 2019 season better.  When the leaves are turning, the pheasants are cackling, and the grouse are flushing next season what will you be hunting with?  Time for a new Parker for your upland season, but how to choose?  There are many available and more to the decision than just price.  You want a gun that will serve your needs, function properly without letting you down or costing you more money on repairs, and a gun that looks good and makes you proud.  This fine Parker, sn197179, was built in 1922 and has been restored to historically correct finishes.  As fewer vintage Parkers remain with any kind of desirable condition left on them, shooter/collectors are buying guns to restore properly, or when available, guns that have been properly restored.  The restored guns are still wise investments and will continue to gain value for the upland hunter and clays enthusiasts.  Look at the case color on this gun!  Turnbull Restorations has mastered the bone and charcoal case hardening process and it shows here.  The wood is far more figured than most VH Grade Parkers, with fiddleback figure that changes as the light hits it from different angles.  This gun is just beautiful, and all parts are original to the gun.  The other clear advantage of a properly restored gun is that it has been stripped down to the smallest components, inspected, cleaned, properly lubricated, and reassembled to as new, ready for service with no surprises.  We call this a VFI CERTIFIED GUN AND IT COMES WITH A 90 DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY.  Who does this on a 95 year-old gun?  VFI DOES!  The gun is tight on the hinge pin and breech face like a new gun with the lever well right of center, the ejectors are strong and timed, and the triggers are crisp.  There are no cracks or repairs in the wood and the stock dimensions are good for most shooters.  At 6 1/4lbs. and balanced just perfect between the hands, it is an awesome bird gun ready for another 100 years of use.  When you consider that the restoration can cost over $3500 and the wait can be over a year, there is great reason to buy this gun and have it without the extra cost and time without your gun.  Thanks for looking and don’t let this one get away!
