RARE & FINE GIBBS CIVIL WAR .52 CALIBER PERCUSSION CAVALRY CARBINE CA. 1862-1863. Less than 1000 completed by Wm. F. Brooks of New York City for the Federal Government before the plant was burned down in the New York Draft Riots of 1863. Excellent condition overall and all original and matching. Excellent markings and fine metal with the original patinated finish. Stock with the original finish and having two fine U.S. Govt. Inspector’s cartouches on the left butt stock. Perfect working order and excellent bore. Extra nice condition for one of these which saw heavy service in the western campaigns during the Civil War particularly with the Missouri Cavalry which were issued 500 of these scarce carbines.
