CO. CIVIL WAR .50 CAL. RIMFIRE CAVALRY CARBINE CIRCA 1864. 20” barrel chambered for the original and scarce .50 Warner rimfire cartridge and not converted to the .56-50 Spencer cartridge. Less than 1500 made under James Warner’s Patent by Massachusetts Arms Company of Springfield. Crisp patent and address markings on side of frame. All matching and original in very good to fine condition. Excellent mellow deep umber colored brass frame and barrel with even blue and patina mixed original finish. Matching stock and forend with crisp U.S. Ordnance Inspector’s cartouche on the wrist of the stock. Perfect working order and excellent bore. Famously used by the 1st Wisconsin Cavalry during engagements in Kentucky, Georgia and Tennessee in the Civil War. Very nice example and very historic. SOLD Antique: Yes |
