Description:
Colt & Civil War Collectors, this is a rare variation of the Colt's 1861 Special musket. During Colt's last contract with the U.S. (1864 Contract), a number of "Artillery Muskets" were made along with the standard infantry muskets. These "Artillery" models differed from the ordinary Colt's musket by having a shorter barrel (2 band style vs the standard 3 band), case hardened lock plate vs the standard "in the white" finish, different rear sight, flat barrel bands with spring vs the standard Enfield type with a screw, and were smoothbore vs rifled like the standard muskets. Few of this type were produced. This is chance to have a really scarce Colt musket. Money order or cashier's check plus $ 40 shipping.
