PRICE REDUCED FURTHER, Bayonet/Frog now Included!! '93 Spanish Orviedo/Mauser - 7x57mm. Ser: 2U - 4XXX. Cylinder engraved with "Orviedo"- "Fabrica De Armas 1927". No barrel import markings visible.. An excellent collector's and shooter's rifle. Bore has crisp lands with cloudy grooving. Blueing of all parts is good and the piece has all matching parts including bolt and stock. Wood is very good with very minor handling dings. Well-worn sling - unknown origin but came with rifle, may well be original. Now includes FN Toledo Bayonet/Sheath/Frog Bayonet!
L. Olson's Mauser book relates that after the Spanish-American War, captured '93 Spanish Mausers used in Cuba (Battle of San Juan Hill) were brought back to the Springfield Armory for study. During battle, they had greater fire-power due to their magazine/rapid loading, against our outmoded 45-70 Springfields. So some of the '93's features were later incoporated into our great Springfield M-1903 rifle! The '93 Spanish Mauser is an important historical piece for any collection.
