Description:
This Remington Model 870 TB Trap gun was made in January 1974 and is in excellent all-original condition. The Remington Model 870 TB Trap was manufactured from 1950 to 1981. It was offered with a 28" or 30" Vent Rib "Full" choked barrel and had a special "Trap dimensions" stock set with less drop (1.25" at comb, 1.5" at heel) and a factory-installed recoil pad. This particular example has a 30" vent rib barrel choked "Full" with both a mid-bead and front bead with a perfect bright bore. The bore shows no pitting, dents, bulges, or imperfections of any kind. The original factory high gloss blue finish on the shotgun rates 95%, with the majority of the finish wear on the magazine tube where the forearm makes contact when working the action. Unlike most pump-action trap guns in this price range it shows very little use. The receiver is very clean and the factory blue is still glossy and bright with none of the "carry wear" on the lower edges and bottom of the receiver at the natural balance point. The original factory checkered American Walnut stock set is attractive and shows only some minor handling and storage marks outside of the one line-shaped ding on the left side of the butt. You can see this in the pictures of the left side of the buttstock, the mark is about 1.25" inches long and could likely be steamed out with care. The wood is free from any cracks, chips, or repairs and is 100% structurally solid. The press-checkering on the forearm and pistol grip is still nice and crisp and clean, and the factory-installed pistol grip cap and Remington-branded recoil pad are in excellent condition. The length of pull to the end of the recoil pad is 14.25" inches. The action on this Remington is butter smooth but precise. The action goes into battery perfectly, locking up tight with no play. All of the controls on this 870 TB work 100% like the day it left the factory in 1974. If you have been looking for a classy and reliable trap gun, this vintage Remington Model 870 TB would be an excellent choice. Vintage Trap guns like this with so very little prior use don't come along too often!
