Description:
Halfstock Side Hammer Percussion Rifle by J.O. Robson Circa 1850’s. In 45 Caliber with 29” octagonal barrel with 7 groove rifling, OAL 44 ½”. Top of barrel marked, “J.O. ROBSON/BUFFALO” in block letters. Unmarked floral engraved lock with engraved barrel tang with interesting octagonal shaped swivel tang sight with semi buckhorn rear & peep front sight. Brass furniture including single brass trigger with brass triggerguard with finger groove spur. Faceted brass crescent buttplate with brass cap box & brass tip ramrod secured with two ramrod pipes. Very good condition overall with metal surfaces showing nice aged patina. Stock is very good showing typical light scattered use marks. Mechanically functional with very good bore showing strong rifling.
