Description:
This is a nice example of a stainless 1911. It is chambered for the long popular 38 Super cartridge. When introduced in 1929, it became popular with police and mobsters alike for its ability to punch through steel plates. This was possible thanks to its high velocity which exceeded 1000 feet per second. Today, the 38 Super is popular for IPSC shooting competition. Compared to the 9mm Luger, the .38 Super’s longer case allows it to be loaded to higher performance levels than its shorter counterpart. The pistol comes with a spare barrel made by Jarvis. It is marked “Jarvis .355”, which my research indicates is Jarvis’s name for the famous 9x23 Winchester. The shoulder depth has been measured to confirm the case length is 23mm long. The 9x23 was designed for use in IPSC competition and can be loaded to high pressures as. It is not just a lengthened 9mm Luger case. Theof the case has been strengthened to provide greater support for higher pressure loads. It has proven to be a top performer in IPSC shooting but could never replace the popular 38 Super. The 1911 here is a Series 80 model. The trigger feels very light for that series. It comes in at roughly 4 lbs. 10 oz. The 1911 has been fitted with some nice pearl-like grips with U.S. Government Eagle medallions. There is a small scratch on the left grip. The bore has some powder residue still present but no rust or pitting. There is some wear from the slide lock on the left side of the frame. The front tip of the slide has two minor nicks in it. Otherwise, the pistol is in excellent condition. It comes with its original Colt box, the manual, the original Colt Pony rubber grip panels, the spare 9x23 barrel, and two Colt magazines marked .38 Super.
