Description:
This Colt Government Model Pistol was shipped on Oct. 19, 1917 to Ensign W.J. Malone, address now unknown. It was Factory engraved by Colt “W.H. Hopkins, U.S.N.”, clearly a presentation piece. The engraved Pistol may be the result of a “Class Rank” bet, Hopkins won. Hopkins and Malone were classmates at the U.S.N.A. class of 1918. The Navy Gazette June 20 1921 Orders to Officers records Lieut. W. J. Malone (Con. C.) to duty Navy Yard, Puget Sound, Wash. No additional information has been found with the limited effort I’ve spent. Additional research may uncover the history behind the Hopkins / Malone connection. By WWII they would be of senior rank and perhaps have interesting history.
The pistol remains in excellent original condition, 95% or better, with an excellent bore. It appears to have been carried and handled but shot very little judging from the interior surfaces. It does show minor use, some minor handling marks to the grip and some holster wear on the slide. The slide may have some touchup in the area rubbed by the holster closure stud. The correct two tone, lanyard loop magazine shows wear marks from the snap closure of the WWI Mag. pouch. This is an interesting Pistol that would be a significant addition to either a Colt or Military Collection. Very few military pistols with this level of personalization are known. SHIPPING:
Normally shipments are made via U.S.P.S. Priority Mail, Insured, with a return receipt. Packing, Shipping and Insurance cost for this handgun is $50.00.

Modern firearms, post 1898, can only be shipped to a Type 01 Federal Firearms License address. Curio-Relic firearms, as defined by the BATF list, can usually be shipped to a Type 03 Collectors License address. Some states have additional restrictions such as CA, CT, DC, IL, NJ and NY.
A signed valid FFL license copy either mailed or emailed will be required for shipment to only the license address.
Antique firearms, pre-1898 do not require a Federal License. For purchase, a copy of a Government Issued Identification (Driver’s License, Etc.), showing date of birth and current address will be required.

These guns are sold for collectors and only represented as used firearms that must be checked by a competent person, observe all the necessary safety precautions prior to attempting to load and fire one of these weapons
RETURNS:
Returns must be made within 3 days of receipt. They must be received in exactly the same condition with no parts exchanged. If it has been altered, damaged, or fired, a refund will not be made. Packing, shipping and insurance cost will not be refunded. All layaway purchases are returnable for merchandise credit only.
PAYMENT:
Bank check, Personal check, and Money Orders are preferred. Visa and MasterCard are accepted with a 3% processing fee. For Visa and MasterCard orders please provide the account number, code number, expiration date, name on card, phone number and card billing address. This information can be phoned in or E-Mailed. All orders must be paid in advance, C.O.D. orders are not accepted. Checks, both Bank and Personal must clear before the order will be shipped, usually a 2 week delay.
LAYAWAYS:
A 20% deposit is required. Balance is due in 60 days. Deposits are non-refundable and are forfeited after 60 days. Layaway sales are returnable for merchandise credit only.
SALES TAX:
Pennsylvania state sales tax is 6% for in state purchases. The payment of other states sales tax, if applicable, for shipped items is the buyer’s responsibility.
