Description:
Caliber 38-40. Special order full octagon barrel and a button magazine. Early buckhorn rear sight. Front sight is a Marble Duplex marked " 2S". Very good bore. Bright and shiny with sharp rifling. Would rate about an 8. Wood may have a light coat of linseed oil added but is not sanded or undersized. Generally in very good condition with a shotgun style buttplate. Overall metal is excellent with about 20% thinning barrel blue. Sharp corners. Excellent markings. Receiver has about 30-40% original blue thinning somewhat. Correct dust cover. Crisp tight action. Believed to be all original and complete with a folding Lyman tang sight. All of the early 38-40's came with a shotgun style butts being standard. That is this case on this gun. Made in 1881.
