Description:

Very Fine early Henry Repeating Rifle By New Haven Arms Company. Serial #687, All matching numbers, including the screws. Made in 1862. .44 RF Caliber, 24'' octagon barrel with a  good bore which shows deep rifling its entire length with some patches of  very light pitting present. Barrel is a pleasing plum/brownd patina and has sharp barrel markings as well as sharp corners.  Has the absolutely untouched rich "Butterscotch"  patina on the action. The side plates are tight, the edges are crisp and the patina is deep and rich. The original stock is in fine condition and looks to have a coat of linseed oil added.  Not sanded or undersized. This is the early First Model that rounded heel and toe on buttplate.  This has the "H" on the lower tang indicating it was inspected by Benjamin Tyler Henry himself.  The barrel address and serial number are correct and remain clearly legible. This early rifle  was made without sling swivels. The surface of the stock shows normal light handling marks.   Has a  wonderful wood-to-metal fit. This rifle, according to  the book "THE HISTORIC HENRY RIFLE" by Wiley Sword, pages 17 and 18  was in a block of rifles, serial number range of 600 to 800, that was shipped  to Kentucky , to partially  arm  two full companies of the "12th Kentucky Cavalry".  A very  investment quality example of these rare first model and highly desirable Rifles! Buyer Pays $45.00 shipping to the lower 48 states. I accept USPS Money Orders or Bank Cashier's Check. Will accept Personal check, with shipping hold. 3% Credit Card Fee.  Three day non-firing, non-disassembly inspection period. If returned, for any reason, full refund less shipping.   Layaway Available! One third down, balance on or before end of 90 days. Other reasonable layaway options considered.  ANTIQUE!
