Gun matches the Cody letter perfectly including the special order sights which don't often appear in the Cody letter. Color case hardened receiver. 1/2 round 1/2 octagon barrel. Rare 2/3 magazine. This rifle is fitted with fantastic highly figured & colored buttstock & forend, one of the most spectacular that I have ever seen on an '86 !! Factory Oil finish & hard rubber shotgun butt per letter. This '86 has survived in far above average untouched factory original condition both wood & metal. The receiver, lever, hammer, trigger & forend cap were coated with a heavy shellac probably 100 yrs ago which has been cleaned off gently revealing generous original case colors. Some very light areas of discoloration/oxidation on receiver. Slight areas of shellac still on bbl & small areas of wood which has been undisturbed. Wood is original, uncracked, unsanded and still retains oil finish with a beautiful hand rubbed patina. Fine original hard rubber buttplate. Barrel & bolt still retains nearly all of their original factory deep rich bluing. One minor area where blue was cleaned right side of bbl adjacent to rear sight... fine pitting) Does not detract. Sharp markings. Special order sights front & rear. Bright bore with strong lands & grooves with areas of light pitting. A excellent bore for an antique 45/70! Excellent original screws with only a couple showing evidence of minor misuse. (stock screw in top tang) Priced to sell immediately. Others would have it listed for 5 figures. It's a good one.
