For an idea of value see --tortuga trading pages 2 and 3 on the net-- Identified Scottish,use these were made in southern germany ca 1580-1612,an awesome weapon for sure, known also as a hatchet blade dussage--many varieties were made this sword is about mint and all original down to the blade engraving--These swords rarely come to the marketplace and are coveted by their owners-these were in use by the famous mercenary George Sinclair and his band of about 500 mercenaries,  George Sinclair and his group met their end at the battle of Kringen, in Norway- these fearsome weapons were also used by Pirates in and after this period. the double fuller converging to one large fuller as well as the knights cross guard and the full unmodified hatchet blade presenting all of its original blade engraving showing the sun, moon and stars. These swords predate the famous Scottish basket hilt swords that are well known even thru our american revolutionary period. you want a famous sword ??
