Description:
KENANSVILLE CAVALRY SABER, NEAR MINT: This unique Kenansville Confederate cavalry saber is a variation of Froelich's second pattern (Kenansville Second Model), but with a Boyle & Gamble Phygian style pommel cap. The saber and scabbard are both original with matching Roman numeral XXVII markings, and are in near mint condition. The original nick-free blade is bright and tight with great casting flaws. The hilt has great patina, which matches the scabbard mounts, and has 100% original leather and iron wire. The guard has a little wiggle movement. The scabbard is dent free and retains much of its original lacquer finish. This is one of the finest examples! This is a museum grade piece.
