All of the single iron wire and the original dyed leather is present. Has all the normal Haiman characteristics, the scabbard is of high quality made like the Mc Elroy sabers with large mounts-the previous owner polished the mounts too bad but not a deal breaker for sure. The scabbard shows a fine brown patina and casting flaws with no breaks or holes. The hilt has a deep reddish brown patina and hidden under that patina on the flat of the guard is stamped CSA, a known variant of this manufacturer. The blade exhibits the proper casting flaws with nice age and some signs of battle use-All in all a great confederate saber, exhibiting the crude hasty manufacture late in the war years. This saber is a known product of Louis Haiman, Columbus Ga.This saber is a little more enhanced in its finish with the number 355 on the hilt and the pommel cap.
