Unearthed CIVIL WAR Knife and Artillery Rounds

Unearthed Near Vicksburg, Mississippi

Here we present a Side Knife Blade, 3 Artillery Rounds and 10 .69 Caliber Bullets. According to accompanying document, these Civil War artifacts were dug up on private land in Vicksburg, Mississippi in the late 1970s. They were found about 8” deep on the side of a hill facing the Mississippi River, near a Confederate gun battery. The Siege of Vicksburg was the final major military action in this Vicksburg Campaign of the American Civil War. In a series of maneuvers, Union Major General Ulysses S. Grant and his Army of the Tennessee crossed the Mississippi River and drove the Confederate Army of Mississippi, led by Lt. General John C. Pemberton, into the defensive lines surrounding the fortress city of Vicksburg, Mississippi.
