This is an early Montana made rifle probably manufactured in the mid-1980s as it has both the Shiloh Sharps markings on the receiver plus the “OLD RELIABLE” stamping along with C. Sharps markings on the barrel. This would make a terrific hunting Sharps as the total weight of this rifle is a little over 9 lbs with a balance point just ahead of the receiver and behind the rear sight- making this a perfect length and weight to carry in the field. The fancy walnut shows excellent grain pattern and contrasting color typical of some of the wood Shiloh was able to offer when this rifle was made. It also has an optional accent line on the cheek piece, double set triggers, extra finish on the walnut, semi-buckhorn Lawrence ladder rear sight with an extra full buckhorn Lawrence ladder sight included (these are listed in the Shiloh catalog at $65). The hard rubber butt plate is the attractive early style no longer offered that is embossed with “SHARPS” and “OLD RELIABLE.” Overall condition is near new with maybe a few small handling marks in the wood that you’d have to examine closely to find.
