Description:
This gun started life as a new off the shelf ArmiSport reproduction of a Model 1842  .69 caliber 3-band smooth bore musket. Aside from the usual strong mainspring that ArmiSport puts in these guns, this one was a bit special because it came with a particularly nice grain to the walnut stock. Charlie Hahn cut down and crowned the barrel to “Macon” (approx 30") size for use as a faster loading gun in team competition, also glass bedding the barrel, and tuning the trigger to NSSA standard. I browned the barrel and all metal parts to cut down reflection and replaced the nose band with one featuring a brass hump. I used this gun successfully for individual and team competition for a number of years, consistent with my modest shooting abilities in Marksman classification.

Along with pictures of the gun and SAC card, I am enclosing a 25 yard off hand target recently shot with a knarled .678 RCBS round ball panned with Len’s Lube, over 50 grains of (5 year old) 3-F Goex black powder. With your better skills and possibly a fresh round workup with the now more popular 2F loads, I would trust your success would be greater. This is an attractive and functional gun, with good bore and action, used but not abused, although the browning has faded a bit on some of the metal surfaces and there is a flash mark behind the bolster from nipple ignition.

This gun was put together for NSSA competition, and is sold for that purpose or as a collection piece for a non-shooter.

Price: $750, plus shipping (see terms of sale below). Add $75 if you wish to purchase my .678 RCBS round ball mould, including handles.
