Description:
Winchester Mdl 1885 has a #3 Octagon barrel and with the rare 40-90 Sharps Straight caliber. Thr rifle has seen a lot of use in its life. Mfg. 1889. 30 in. barrel. Correct 2 line Winchester address. 40-90 ss stamped on top of barrel but someone stamped a BF over it but still readable. Under the stock is stamped an "11" on the barrel. Under the spring is stamped VP with a oval circle around it then a "3" then "40-90s. Wood is good with a little campfire checkering done on it. The bore has light pitting, slight riflings. Show lot of shooting took place. The ejector has been dinged up as well showing signs of cartridge jamming however action, trigger and hammer function fine. Barrel also shows it was in a vise once. The old boy is what it is. But I understand not many made in this rare caliber. $2000.00/offer. Reduced to 1500.00
