Description:
This is a nice honest vintage Remington Model 870 Wingmaster in 20 gauge with a 28" inch barrel choked "modified".  The Wingmaster was Remington's top of the line 870 model.  It featured a higher gloss blue finish and nicer wood than the standard 870 model.  According to the Remington barrel code of "PU", this Wingmaster was manufactured in June of 1971.  It is serial number S415486X.  While this shotgun shows some minor wear from carrying and use it is still very attractive and the mechanics of the gun are pristine.  The original factory high-gloss blue finish that the Wingmaster line featured is still glossy and bright, with only minor finish wear and light handling marks showing on the usual areas. The majority of this wear shows at the balance point for carry, some of the high edges, and where moving parts of the action touch. The internals of the action are clean and tight, with no slop or play in them from a moderate or heavy round count being fired thru it.  The bore in the 28" barrel is pristine and bright.  It is free from pitting, dents, bulges, or any other type of imperfection.  The "modified" choke is a perfect choice for an all-around versatile shotgun.  The original checkered Walnut stock set is in good condition overall.  The buttstock is solid and is 100% free from cracks or repairs.  It shows some very minor handling marks but still has the black pistol grip cap with a white spacer in place as well as the Remington branded recoil pad with a white spacer.  The length of pull is a hair under 14" inches to the end of the pad.  The forearm has some minor handling and storage marks and some minor damage to the right rear area of the pump.  Under close inspection there are some cracks that have caused some of the clearcoat to chip away.  These cracks have been repaired/glued from the inside and are now stable and strong.  All of the controls on this 20 Gauge Wingmaster work 100% like they were designed to.  The action cycles smoothly and locks up tight, and the trigger, safety, and bolt release lever all work perfectly.  If you have been looking for a vintage 20 gauge pump gun to take afield hunting or to the skeet field to shoot clay pigeons, this Remington 870 Wingmaster would be a great choice.  These vintage models are well known for having smoother actions and a better feel to them than the newer production guns.
