19th Century BELGIAN Antique PINFIRE Revolver
Liege Proofed European Double Action Revolver
Here we present an antique Belgian Pinfire Revolver, made in Liege circa 1870. The pinfire cartridge was one of the first successful self-contained cartridges in history, and the pistol saw prolific use in Europe during the 19th century, even being adopted by some militaries and police.
This one is martially sized. It features a dovetailed rear sight and a lanyard ring. The cylinder bears Liege proofs.
The overall condition is fair. The metal surfaces bear most of an old nickel finish with dark patches of patina. The walnut grips are in good shape. The bore is dark. The action on this revolver is nonfunctioning. The trigger only currently revolves the cylinder. Ejector rod absent.
