BELGIAN Antique PINFIRE Revolver
Liege Proofed European Double Action Revolver
Here we present an antique Pinfire Revolver, made in Liege circa 1870. Casimir Lefaucheux patented the pinfire cartridge in 1835 and son Eugene designed the pistol. The pinfire cartridge was one of the first successful self-contained cartridges in history, and the pistol saw prolific use in Europe during the 19th century, even being adopted by some militaries and police.
The cylinder has Liege proof marks.
The overall condition is fair. The metal surfaces are dark with age. The markings are legible. The grips are rough with wear. The bore is dark. The action (trigger/hammer) on this revolver is strong. Cylinder does not revolve. Ejector rod absent. Barrel assembly has slight movement.
