Description:
This old Marlin Model 1881 with a serial number range of 168x was made prior to 1885 and has since been customized by a gunsmith who turned the octagon barrel into a tapered round barrel, added numerous inlays to the stock and forend, and then totally refinished both wood and metal. This was done many years ago. The bore is a bit dark but with strong lands and grooves showing. Original sights have been replaced. All and all a very rare Marlin rifle but one that is reasonably priced due to the modifications that have previously been made to the firearm. Rifle is in perfect working order. This rifle is an antique according to BATF regulations and does not need to be shipped to an ffl or c&r holder. It may be shipped directly to the purchaser who needs to be over 21.
