WWII Antique Nazi Third Reich German Officer Sword
Ornate Lion’s Head WWII Sword
Here we present an antique Nazi Third Reich Lion Head Officer’s Sword by Eikhorn, made in Solingen, Germany circa 1940. Generally speaking, swords were not extremely practical for combat by the time the Second World War came around; however, they were still prized for dress uniforms and status symbols. They were worn at formal ceremonies, weddings, parties, parades and funerals. The Wermacht, Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarines and sundry other Nazi affiliates all had their own swords and styles.
This specimen is very nice and in good condition. The pommel features a lion’s head with colored stones in the eye sockets. The right side of the guard features and eagle on a swastika. The front of the handguard is decorated with oak leaves. The blade is highly polished. The edge has not been sharpened or ever intended to be sharpened. The scabbard was painted black and bears no major scratches or dings.
