- Barrel marking on barrel "Colts PT. F. A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.", "PATENT AUG 5TH 1884 NOV. 6. 88 MAR 5.1888"
- Left side of barrel has "Colt D.A. 38"
- RAC inspector marks above grips
- Lots of brilliant niter blue on back of hammer
- Short cylinder flutes
- Hammer has solid firing pin

- Iron half moon front blade sight, rear notched sight
