Description:
Up for your consideration is, without a doubt, one of the most collectable Winchester Model 70 rifles in recent manufacture. This Model 70 Super Grade African is chambered in .458 Winchester Magnum with the highest grade deluxe checkered walnut stock. This rifle is a pre-64 manufactured in 1960. It is in 98% condition with no rust, no pitting, and no fading of the mesmerizing blue finish. Only 1226 of these guns were manufactured, and this is one of the highest quality and best condition we have seen on the market. The walnut stock is like new with only a few very small imperfections to be seen- no cracks or dings. The original rubberized buttplate is in excellent condition with great color, no deformation and very good ribbing. The original adjustable sights are in excellent condition, as well, and work flawlessly. The hood over the front sight is flawless with no denting or scratching. The blue finish on the barrel is deep and rich, as are the sling mounts with deep blue finish and no rusting or pitting. The chamber is very clean and shows a lifetime of maintainence and care. The bolt is in great condition with factory jeweling present. The baseplate is also flawless with deep blue finish bearing the "Super Grade" designation. The bore is exceptional with deep cut rifling that appears straight out of a Howitzer cannon featuring very bright, shiny, clean walls. The overall condition of this rifle is remarkable, and given it's only 1 of 1200 guns ever made to this specification, it is in a class of its own. The model 70 African is a highly sought after rifle; it is very unlikely that one of this distinction will surface anytime in the near future as they continue to appreciate in value.
