Description:
This is one of the two hundred and fifty Model 1853 Carbines ordered by the US Army. It is in good condition and would rate about a six. It is sound and complete, and all original.

There is wear on the stock behind the hammer, and what appears to be an old crack repair at the rear of the fore stock. Both are sound.

1853 serial numbers start at 9000 and go to 19000. This is one of the first two hundred produced.

The  serial number on the receiver and the barrel match. The inspectors initials JPC appear at the rear of the receiver on the ring bar side on these carbines. Only the C remains on this one.
An M is stamped on the lever lock, and what appears to be a J is on the top of the chamber.

This is an antique. No FFL is required.

This ia a very rare gun, that is a part of American history. It is one of those that speaks to you.
