Payment Types Accepted: Money Order, Personal or Bank Check Description: 1864 dated, government inspected and issued Civil War Dahlgren bayonet-bowie. Developed by Navy Commander John Dahlgren for the Plymouth rifle. This bayonet is all original, including the original scabbard. The age patina on the brass components is even, with the bayonet itself having a lighter patina from a cleaning some time ago as it has aged. The lug-nut locking spring on the handle is fully operational. The wood grip is complete with expected age handling wear. The blade is spectacular with correct, clear full Ames markings, 1864 date and desirable anchor stamp and inspector's initials denoting actual issue. In addition, the brass end of handle has the "DR" in an oval inspection mark. The scabbard is complete, original and in very good+ condition overall. These original Dahlgren bayonet-bowie's are very desirable and getting impossible to find one on the loose these days. Here is a fine example with a government issue. SOLD Antique: Yes |
