Description:
The marking is on both the side locks and on top of the bbl. Also on the bbl is " Makers to H.R.H. the Duke of Conaught". Evidently a special rifle made by Hollis for the Duke. Cal 500/450 Nitro which is a bad-ass cartridge! This is a heavy duty heavy weight double rifle. Weighs in at just under 12 lbs. Condition of the gun is VG. It has been hunted with evident at the carry point. Still a lot of blue on the front 2/3 of the bbl. Receiver and sidelocks still have quite a lot of case color remaining with the balance having turned an antique grey. Wood is superb. Many of these heavy recoiling calibers have cracks. There are no visible cracks in the stock or around the delicate lock plates. Forearm wood is also in very nice cond. Lock up is tight and solid. Bbls are on face. Even the dolls head is perfectly flush. On top of all that, it has a near perfect bore. A very special high quality English double rifle.
