Thomas WOODWARD 12 BORE RIFLE ENGRAVED
Thomas Woodward, a Birmingham gunmaker. You can find the “T. Woodward” name engraved near the top edge of the lock plate, about an inch forward from the small end of the lock. It seems that TW was a very accomplished English gunmaker in the late 1800s, and you can learn more about him with the following Google search: British Gunmaker “T Woodward”. This is a single shot 12 bore cartridge rifle, under lever, with ejector. The receiver, lock plate, hammer, locking lever, and barrel breech are all engraved with fine old English engraving. The barrel has been replaced. Restocked in English walnut with cheek piece. Forend is also English walnut with an Ebony cap. This is not my area of expertise so if you can provide any insight, I would appreciate it. This weapon needs to be proof tested by an approved source before firing. Questions? Ask! 3 day NON-firing inspection period. Shipping and insurance costs are yours ($60.00) to the lower 47. Alaska, Hawaii, and California double the shipping cost.
