Description:
+This 1980 vintage Thompson Center Contender Super 14 in .223 Remington caliber is in excellent condition over and is perfectly set up to take to the range or afield.  The T/C Contender was introduced in 1967 and produced in many variations and calibers until it was discontinued in 2000.  This break-action single shot pistol quickly earned a reputation for being well-made, reliable, and supremely accurate.  They have been a favorite of target shooters and hunters since their inception, and the modular design that allows for one frame and multiple calibers and barrel lengths makes the pistol almost infinitely adaptable to any need.  This particular example is a Contender Super 14 Model with a 14" inch barrel chambered in .223 Remington.  It has the original factory gloss blue finish in excellent condition with just a few tiny spots of finish wear/handling marks, and a perfect bright bore.  The rifling in this Super 14 still looks new, with sharp edges in the lands and grooves and no visible pitting, erosion, or imperfections of any kind.  The hammer is in excellent shape, and the selecter for centerfire or rimfire operation works perfectly as does the hammer-mounted mechanical safety  This pistol has a Pachmayer textured rubber stock set in excellent condition.  The pistol grip is textured with finger grooves for a steady and secure grip, and the textured rubber forearm can be gripped with your off hand or rested on sandbags or a bench while protecting the barrel.  The action on this Contender is nice and tight with no slop and all of the controls are in perfect working order.  As you can see in the pictures, the original factory rear iron sight has been removed and a 1-piece base/rings have been installed in it's place.  The 1-piece combination sight base and rings are extremely attractive with a gloss blue finish and smooth lines.  It appears to be very well made and is tight to the barrel.  This Super 14 comes with the sought-after Japanese-made 2.5-7x28mm Thompson Center branded scope already mounted up and in excellent condition.  This scope features a 28mm objective lens, variable magnification from 2.5 to 7 power, adjustable eyepiece focus, and a side-mounted rheostat-controlled lit Duplex reticle thats lights up red.  The optics are super bright and clear in this scope and the lenses are free from any scratches, cracks, or chips.  You can really tell that these are quality Japanese optics.  All of the controls and adjustments on this scope work perfectly including the elevation and windage, and both of the turret caps are in perfect shape.  The power adjusting ring is smooth and precise, and the reticle lights up properly from very dim to very bright.  In order to access the hammer more easily with the scope mounted up on the pistol a removeable knurled blued steel hammer spur has been installed.   This really is a very nice vintage Contender rig that appears to have been used VERY little and has been very well cared-for.  It is set up perfectly and is ready to shoot.  If you have been thinking about adding a T/C Contender to your collection this .223 caliber Super 14 model would be a superb choice.
