Edwards & Son was a provincial maker located in Plymouth, England. This nice condition hammergun, number 3035, was made in the1890’s and has nicely figured nitro Damascus barrels and low rebounding hammers. *** The frame is extensively engraved with some residual case coloring remaining. It has low hammers so that when cocked they fall below the shooter’s line of sight. It also has double triggers and extractors. Overall weight is 6 lb 12 oz. *** The nitro Damascus barrels are highly figured and are 30-1/4” in length. They have 2-1/2” chambers and shiny bores. They are topped by a raised solid, concave game style rib which is inscribed “C.G. Edwards & Son Plymouth”. The left barrel is bored 0.728 with a constriction of 0.031 for Full choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.030. The right barrel is bored 0.722 and has a constriction of 0.000 for Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.026. *** The straight grip stock and splinter forearm are crafted of nicely figured English walnut and have been recently refinished. The checkering is crisp. Stock dimensions are 14-5/8” over a ½” recoil pad by 1-1/2” by 2-1/8”. Cast off for the righthanded shooter. *** Solid, handsome gun by a quality provincial maker.
